THE RARE GENRE
Our rare coffees focus on microlots and/or explore unsual processes and cultivars.
Rare Beans
A clean Marshel with a pleasing balance of acidity and sweetness, showcasing an elegant interplay of yellow and green fruit notes.
The Marshel varietal generated considerable interest when it won the Peru Cup of Excellence in 2019 with an impressive score of 92.28, outperforming more established winning varietals such as Gesha. The genetic lineage of this coffee is still debated but it is most likely a rare Catimor-derived varietal. What is clear is that it appears to be highly disease resistant, which is unusual for a varietal capable of producing such exceptional cup quality.
