A beautifully elegant Costa Rican Gesha offering a layered sweet fruit profile, creamy silky body with a clean finish.

This coffee was sourced by our friend Jamie Treby from DRWakefield during one of his trips to Costa Rica. Jamie, familiar with our preference for clean and elegant coffees, ensures we have first refusal on exceptional lots that meet our standards. Over the years, he’s introduced us to standout coffees like Hybrid 17 and Lupe Maria from Café Granja La Esperanza, and this selection from La Candelilla mill is another brilliant find.

La Candelilla’s legacy as one of Costa Rica’s first micro-mills began in 2000, when seven family members joined forces to transform their coffee production. Together, they pioneered honey processing techniques that now define the region, setting a benchmark for quality and collaboration. This coffee was grown on a cornerstone of this project—Cacique farm, named after the striking black-and-yellow birds that frequent its trees.

La Candelilla is honey-processed, meaning some of the coffee’s mucilage is retained during drying. This method is known to enhance sweetness and clarity while adding depth to the cup. Sun-drying ensures a clean and balanced profile, allowing the coffee’s layered fruity notes and creamy texture to shine.
