THE FOUNDATION GENRE
This genre represents the foundation of specialty coffee and the third wave movement. Clean, aromatic coffee with sweetness and quality.
Foundation Beans
This Mexican mixed lot offers bright green fruit acidity balanced by a nutty, jam-like sweetness on the finish.
In the late 1800s, Mexican President Porfirio Díaz wanted to modernise Mexico and attract European capital, expertise, and settlers. Part of this initiative involved inviting over 450 German families to relocate to the Soconusco region in Southern Mexico to grow coffee. Around 70% of the coffee grown here was exported back to Germany. Finca Guadelupe Zaju carries this heritage and was owned by German families all the way up until 2003 when it was bought by its current owner—Teddy Esteve.
